The 1st Annual Maine Golf Foundation Invitational Tournament is being played on Monday, August 16, 2010 at The Woodlands Club in Falmouth, Maine.  The goal of the 128 anticipated participants in this important tournament event, dinner and live auction, is to raise over $100,000 to support the programs and mission of the foundation.

The Maine Golf Foundation exists to honor, sustain, and grow the game of golf in Maine and to promote the values of honesty, integrity, and perseverance that the game teaches. Our primary focus is to fund and manage programs that build character in youth through golf, such as The First Tee. Our short term goals focus on reorganizing the Maine chapter of The First Tee, including funding expanded programs into areas beyond greater Portland, and to introduce The First Tee’s National School Program into Maine public schools. Secondarily, The Maine Golf Foundation seeks to fund scholarships in support of the higher education of many accomplished young athletes and scholars in Maine.

To support our goals we are also raising money through private solicitations to fund the purchase and renovation of The Maine Golf House in Cumberland, Maine. The Maine Golf House will serve as the home of the Maine Golf Foundation, and will include the central offices of The First Tee program, the Maine Golf Hall of Fame museum, a conference center, and administrative offices for the seven Founding Partners of the Maine Golf Foundation.  The one central location will result in lower administrative cost for each organization and increased collaboration toward the collective goal of a vibrant golf environment for all aspects of the game. The Maine Golf Foundation has a critical role to play in the future of golf in Maine.

The Maine Golf Foundation seeks to serve the community by being an advocate for preserving the traditions and history of the game, introducing and educating new generations to the sport, and facilitating the growth of the sport and business of golf. Join us in achieving our mission by lending your financial support to this worthy event.
